When I was young, my dad would hum a tune while he carried me in his arms. I would lay my head on his chest as he sang, and the resonating sound I heard, with my ear close to his heart, was one of the most comforting sounds I remember during my childhood. I can still hear it in my mind, and the memory of those moments always reminds me of my father’s love.

As a young mother, I also sang to my son while his head rested on my heart. It was my way of comforting my child, expressing love, protection, and peace. It’s quite a unique sound, and it’s personal.

On another note (no pun intended), I heard someone say recently that we are like an arrow in God’s bow. As He draws the arrow back, close to His heart, we can trust that He will aim our lives to the place of His will. I do believe that our relationship with God is based on surrendering, like an arrow resting on the bow, and not on striving. But my mind goes beyond just that. I cherish the resonating sound of his singing for me.

"The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

-Zephaniah 3:17

Let us draw near to God, listening to His songs over us, trusting in His love and experiencing the peace that transcends understanding (Philippians 4:6-7). Let us yield to His direction, as an arrow relies on the archer using the bow to aim toward the target.

Let us pray for His perfect will to happen in our lives. Let us stop striving and rest in His arms.

My prayer: Sing to me God. I will not lean on my own understanding (Proverbs 3:5) but will draw near to you, leaning my ear to your heart.

Thank you for sharing your experience and you are very blessed to have had that as a youngster. I didn't get that but somehow God gave me the moving on my heart to do that for my children.
One of the things I like to do is open my bible put it on my chest and hug it and sing praises to the Lord.
