Grace Christian Church Core Beliefs

the word

We believe the Old and New Testaments of the Bible are the inspired Word of God in the original writings without error and full revelation of His will for the salvation of men. They are the divine and final authority for Christian faith and life. (2 Tim. 3:16-17)

God

We believe that there is only one true God that He has always been, there is no other. He is the creator of all things, infinitely and perfectly existing in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John 1:1; Deut. 4:35, 39; Isa. 43:10-11; Gen. 1-3; 1 John 5: 7-8)

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus is God in the flesh. He is the true God and true man, conceived through the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He came to live and die for the sins of all people. He died on the cross, the complete and final sacrifice for our sins according to the scriptures. Furthermore, He rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven to perfect all things. (John 1:1-3, 14, 34; 1 Tim. 3:16)

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He is the power of God available to all believers, empowering them to walk in newness of life. He will teach and bring all things to our remembrance. We believe that you are filled with the Holy Spirit at the time of salvation. (John 14:26, 16:7-14; Eph. 1:13; Acts 10:44-48)

Mankind

We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and therefore is completely separated from God. Only through repentance of sin and the born again experience can salvation and the spiritual life be experienced. (Isa. 59:2; John 3:5; Rom. 3:23)

Salvation

We believe that faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provides the only means for salvation. Salvation is a gift from God and is for all who believe by faith. (John 3:5-6, 16; Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 10:9-10)

Baptism

We believe in repentance and water baptism by immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the cancellation of sins. Through baptism we identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. (Acts2:38; Rom. 6:3-6; Col. 2:11-14)

church

We believe that the church is the body of Christ, people who through saving faith in Jesus Christ, the only son of God, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together as a family in which Christ, our Saviour, is the head. (Col. 1:18)

gifts of the spirit

We believe in the working of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The gifts of tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy, words of knowledge and wisdom, discerning of spirits, faith, working of miracles, healing, helps, and government. (Mark 16:15-18; Acts 5:12-16; 1 Cor. 12 & 14)
